Botox

What is BOTOX®?
A botulinum toxin which has been widely tested and used for various medical and ophthalmic purposes for several decades. While being used for medical procedures it became apparent that there were cosmetic benefits, specifically noted, were softening of mid-brow frown lines, crows-feet lines around eyes. The FDA approved botulinum toxin type A for cosmetic indications in 2000. This toxin is very dilute and highly purified for cosmetic use.
How does the procedure work?
A small specific amount is injected into the affective muscle causing a noted frown/wrinkle and will block the release of acetylcholine, an important chemical that would otherwise signal the muscle to contract. This injection causes the relaxation of the specific targeted muscle softening and diminishing what is often looked at as a mad, sad, or angry expression on one’s face.
What kind of results can be expected?
Results vary with individuals and can last from approximately 3-5 months. Noted frown lines and wrinkles will soften often disappearing completely. The effects from this procedure take anywhere from 3 days to a week to notice and clients often will look in the mirror and suddenly notice that they cannot make the frowning gesture anymore and their appearance is much more relaxed and younger looking.
Where is this procedure done and who performs it?
This procedure is performed in a medical/spa office under the medical directorship of Dr. Chirag Amin by a licensed registered nurse trained and certified in aesthetic cosmetic procedures.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for BOTOX®?
Any adult who has concerns about frowns, dynamic lines that create a negative appearance can benefit from this procedure. They will be screened for any medical reasons that would be contraindicated. They also will fill out a consent form with a medical history noting any allergies or possible problems.
What should I expect when I come in for an appointment?
Your first visit is approximately 30 minutes, which includes paperwork, screening, photographs, and a discussion of the procedure, additional time will be needed if anesthetic topical solutions are used prior to injection. The actual injections take very little time and can be done on the first appointment after the initial paperwork is finished.
What is the cost and how is the procedure done?
The cost is $350.00 per syringe equivalent to 25 units and $11.00 per additional units needed. A very small fine gauged needle is used and injected into the indicated muscle area. The initial injection is preconceived and most find that “it’s not so bad” afterwards. After the procedure is done you will receive post instructions. Our priority is client centered and we assure you a safe and satisfactory procedure so any questions are welcome.
